Understanding CASP Status
Under Article 3(1)(15) of MiCA, a CASP is a legal person or other undertaking whose professional business is the provision of one or more crypto-asset services to clients and which is authorised to provide those services under MiCA.
MiCA Article 59 provides that a person may not provide crypto-asset services in the Union unless it is authorised as a CASP or falls within an applicable route available to certain already-regulated financial entities.
